Found on disc-based formats (DVD, Blu-ray), an audio commentary is an audio track that runs concurrently with the film and typically consists of one or more persons related to the film’s production commenting about the film.

An audio commentary can range from very superficial comments on the content or making of each scene to in-depth discussions of artistic choices. In some cases, film historians or critics are asked to record a commentary for a classic film, often yielding interesting insights or valuable background information.
